The glittering skyscrapers and bustling streets of Dubai seem a world away from Bassel Alhamra’s childhood hometown in rural Lebanon. However, from a young age, Bassel possessed an unmistakable drive and entrepreneurial spirit that would one day propel him to the top of Dubai’s fiercely competitive real estate industry.

Growing up Fast

Bassel’s story begins in his village in Lebanon, where, from the age of 10, he worked long hours in farming, construction, and event planning to fund his own expenses. “I couldn’t rely on anyone. Whatever I needed, I had to provide for myself,” Bassel reflects. By 15, he was running his own olive and pomegranate businesses. “I wanted to be a successful businessman who has a lot of money,” says Bassel of his early ambitions.

This relentless work ethic served Bassel well when he made the life-changing move to Dubai four years ago with big dreams but little else. Within just two days of arriving, he dove straight into real estate, determined to seize all opportunities. “I wanted to take advantage of my youth – I can fail now and learn from it,” he says.

Building from Scratch

Those early days were no doubt tough as Bassel strove to build his network and business from nothing. However, through his sheer determination and people-centric approach, leads and referrals soon started flowing in. As Bassel explains, “My job was to meet two new people every day, whether I would benefit or not. It was about expanding my network.”

This strategy paid dividends. Within his first year, Bassel was thriving – so much so that he now generates millions annually, with 80% from repeat clients.

But how has he sustained this success? Well, he has recently highlighted 5 five keys to succeed in the Dubai real estate market:

1. Focus on Value, Not Just Sales

When asked about the keys to success in Dubai’s hypercompetitive real estate market, Bassel emphasizes putting clients first above all else. “My main focus was always the client’s benefit, not my own commission. By separating my interests, they could see I was looking out for them.” This relationship-based approach has earned him a loyal following, including clients who purchase multiple properties without question.

2. Willingness to Take Risks

At just 27, Bassel’s success is even more remarkable given his willingness to take risks from a young age. When asked about any regrets over past failures, he simply replies, “I enjoy failing. It’s how I learn.” As he puts it, “Your life can change with one phone call,” so not taking action leads nowhere. This momentum has fueled Bassel to constantly expand his network through genuine connections instead of solely chasing deals.

3. Building a Network from Day One

Being an introvert by nature, Bassel knew networking would be critical to finding early success in a new city. But with no existing contacts, how did he start building relationships so quickly? “My target was to meet two new people every single day, whether I saw any immediate benefit or not,” he recalls.

4. Learning from Early Failures

Of course, Bassel faced plenty of failures along the way. Having arrived with no local experience or clients, knocking on doors yielded many rejections at first. But he viewed stumbles as opportunities. “When things didn’t work, I learned why. Fail young while you can – you need to understand what does and doesn’t work.”

5. Adapting to Constant Change

With Dubai’s property market evolving rapidly, Bassel stresses the importance of continually adapting. From tracking new projects and areas to analyzing macroeconomic shifts, he dedicates significant time to research. “The industry moves so fast that you must always be on your toes.”

With his infectious passion and hustle, there is no doubt Bassel’s influence will only continue multiplying. For those looking to connect with Bassel Alhamra, visit his Linkedin profile here.
