Katie Thompson-Mayes knows firsthand how difficult it is to lose weight and keep it off. While many weight loss programs can help you shed unwanted pounds, it’s hard to find one that helps you maintain your weight loss. Thompson-Mayes took the issue to heart and began a journey to help others struggling with weight.

Fortunately, there is a solution, and its name is Lifefire Weight and Wellness. This company, founded by Nurse Practitioner Katie Thompson-Mayes in Havertown, PA, specializes in effective weight loss programs, infusion services, and men’s health. While currently limited to its Havertown location, another location in Wilmington, DE, is slated to open in August of this year. Thompson-Mayes is excited about expanding further as the company continues to grow.

The Importance of Relatability

When asked why she decided to open Lifefire, Thompson-Mayes stated she wanted to pass along the skills and knowledge she gained as she went through her weight management journey:

“After I gave birth to my second child, I could not lose weight. I gained 70 lbs and did not look or feel like myself… I started to develop health problems, including prediabetes and high cholesterol. I decided to make a change and committed to losing weight. I successfully lost over 70 pounds and have kept it off for the past four years.

Much of my weight loss occurred during the pandemic. Despite working tirelessly in the emergency room while attending graduate school and homeschooling my kids, I could keep up with my new workout routine and healthy lifestyle and continued to lose weight. During my weight loss journey, I developed a large following on social media and got tons of requests asking me for weight loss advice. These requests are what inspired me to start a weight management clinic.”

As Lifefire has grown, Katie has collaborated with Just Get Known, a marketing company that has played a crucial role in refining the clinic’s branding and outreach. This partnership aims to elevate Lifefire Weight & Wellness, helping it reach new heights and connect with more individuals needing its services.

A Cut Above the Rest

Part of what sets Lifefire apart is that they know how stressful weight loss and taking care of oneself can be. As such, Thompson-Mayes has prioritized accommodating its clients in ways that best serve them and their needs. As she states, “As someone who has been through this (weight loss) journey before, I understand how anxiety-inducing all of this can be. Because of that, we’ve tried our best to make the experience at Lifefire as pleasant as possible.”

She continues, “The program at Lifefire Weight & Wellness is unique because it isn’t just about achieving results; it is about MAINTAINING those results. We want to help you overcome the cycle of yo-yo dieting and keep the weight off, and everything about our program is designed to help you succeed long-term.”

Getting into the steps of the different services, Thompson-Mayes says, “Our initial consults are lengthy, and clients meet with us regularly either virtually or in-person so we can make sure they’re successful. For our IV infusion patients, we work hard to make the experience as relaxing as possible because we know how exhausting life can be. The experience comes complete with a heated massage chair with the option to use our iPad for entertainment or take a nap with the provided blanket and eye mask. We even offer tea and healthy snacks!”

The Future of Lifefire

As the company and its services continue to grow and develop, Thompson-Mayes expresses her desire to keep everything familiar and comfortable. “Envision walking into any of our clinics and feeling like you’ve just met a group of friends who genuinely care about your well-being,” she commented. “That’s the environment we’re aiming for. Ultimately, we aspire to be more than just a place for weight loss; we want to be a catalyst for positive change, empowering our clients to lead healthier, happier lives, regardless of their starting point.”
