Fibromyalgia, a chronic condition affecting millions globally, has long been misunderstood and under-treated. While healthcare professionals often dismiss patients with little hope of improvement, Tami Stackelhouse and her International Fibromyalgia Coaching Institute (IFCI) challenge these expectations and provide accurate solutions. With over a decade of experience, IFCI is now training professionals and empowering fibromyalgia patients through a comprehensive approach focusing on hope, education, and lasting symptom relief.

The Gaps in Fibromyalgia Treatment

When patients are first diagnosed with fibromyalgia, they often encounter responses like, “There are limited treatment options available, but we’ll help you navigate your new normal.” This perspective can leave patients feeling uncertain about their future. Finding effective treatment options can be challenging, making it difficult for patients to access solutions that genuinely improve their well-being.

However, Tami Stackelhouse and IFCI are working to shift this perspective. “Patients are often told to simply manage their condition, but I’ve seen firsthand that improvement is possible,” says Tami. “Over the past 10 years, my team and I have helped individuals make meaningful progress, with all of my students and clients experiencing positive changes in their fibromyalgia symptoms

Real Improvement, Real Results

Unlike the traditional approach to fibromyalgia care, which often leaves patients to manage their symptoms with little guidance, IFCI focuses on providing actionable solutions through specialized training. Graduates of IFCI’s Certified Fibromyalgia Advisor® and Certified Fibromyalgia Coach® programs may see significant improvements in their symptoms.

On average, graduates of the Certified Fibromyalgia Advisor® training program share that they feel noticeable improvements within a few months. Those who complete the Certified Fibromyalgia Coach® training program often report even greater progress. Many find that specialized support makes a meaningful difference compared to general health and wellness coaching, which may not focus specifically on fibromyalgia.

“The key to success is specialized education and support,” Tami explains. “Our students don’t just learn general health advice; they receive targeted training on how to manage fibromyalgia-specific symptoms like pain, brain fog, and sleep disturbances. This is why our graduates experience such remarkable results.”

Comprehensive Training for Coaches and Advisors

Unlike many healthcare providers, IFCI graduates receive an in-depth, comprehensive education on managing fibromyalgia. Students in the Certified Fibromyalgia Advisor® program complete at least 18 hours of one-on-one coaching sessions and 22 hours of group training. Topics covered in group sessions include sleep issues, adrenal dysfunction, thyroid health, managing pain, and energy management—all critical areas for fibromyalgia patients.

For those pursuing the Certified Fibromyalgia Coach® designation, the training intensifies with 270 live hours of coaching and fibromyalgia competencies, including a 100-hour practicum where students work with actual fibromyalgia patients under the guidance of Tami. These coaches receive far more specialized fibromyalgia education than most healthcare providers—who typically only receive 0-1 hours of fibromyalgia-specific training during medical school.

“We’re creating a network of well-trained professionals who understand fibromyalgia from both a personal and educational perspective,” says Tami. “Our coaches have lived with fibromyalgia themselves, and they have the tools and knowledge to support others in managing their symptoms and improving their lives.”

A Global Impact: IFCI’s Growing Network

Since its founding in 2015, IFCI has seen remarkable growth. With graduates from 14 countries speaking nine different languages—including English, Spanish, French, Russian, and German—IFCI’s influence is truly global. The Institute celebrates the success of its graduates through biannual events, such as the “Fibromyalgia Stories of Hope and Healing,” where graduates share their “before and after” stories of symptom improvement. These testimonials have been powerful in spreading awareness of the Institute’s work and the possibility of recovery for fibromyalgia patients.

To date, IFCI has graduated 74 students, and this number continues to grow.

Becoming a Fibromyalgia Coach: Opportunities for Healthcare Professionals

For healthcare providers looking to make a real difference in the lives of fibromyalgia patients, IFCI offers two robust training programs: the Certified Fibromyalgia Coach® and the Certified Fibromyalgia Advisor®. These programs provide in-depth, evidence-based training that equips coaches and advisors with the skills to help patients manage fibromyalgia symptoms and reclaim their lives. Registration for the next training session, starting February 28, 2025, is now open at BeAFibroCoach.com.

Empowering Patients and Providers Alike

IFCI is committed to raising awareness about fibromyalgia and providing hope to those suffering from the condition. Through its comprehensive training programs, the Institute empowers fibromyalgia patients and supports healthcare providers in bridging the gap in fibromyalgia care.

Tami says, “It’s time for fibromyalgia to stop being an afterthought in medical training. We’re providing a solution that works, offering real hope and results.”

For healthcare professionals and fibromyalgia patients alike, the International Fibromyalgia Coaching Institute is leading the way toward a brighter, pain-free future for those struggling with fibromyalgia.
