Seyvia Charis: A Vision of Bold Elegance

One of the most talked-about designers of the night was Seyvia Charis, whose couture creations left the audience in awe. Known for her daring designs and meticulous attention to detail, Seyvia’s collection blended tradition and modernity in a way that was both elegant and avant-garde. Her use of intricate batik patterns, combined with luxurious fabrics, created stunning silhouettes that were both regal and wearable. The gowns were bold, but the craftsmanship and refined details made them timeless. Seyvia’s collaboration with Rianty Batik and Semar Nusantara only added to the spectacle, as the mix of textiles and jewelry created a powerful statement about Indonesian heritage.

Seyvia’s ability to marry traditional batik with haute couture made her a standout at NYFW. The audience couldn’t help but applaud her vision, with many noting her potential to become a global fashion icon. “Her work is a celebration of Indonesia’s rich culture, and yet it’s so fresh and modern,” Dina Barber remarked after the show.

Alleira Batik and Adith: A Fresh Take on Tradition

Another highlight of the Indonesia Now show was Alleira Batik’s stunning collection, in collaboration with rising star Adith. Known for reinventing batik for the modern age, Alleira once again proved why it is one of Indonesia’s most beloved fashion brands. This season, the brand introduced a softer, more playful palette of pastels, while still retaining the sophisticated edge that has made it a favorite among fashion enthusiasts.

Adith’s youthful energy shone through in every piece, bringing a fresh perspective to traditional batik. His innovative designs, paired with UC Silver of Bali’s bold jewelry, created a perfect balance of tradition and modernity. The collection was filled with flowing silhouettes and feminine details, offering something both nostalgic and new. The interplay of delicate pastels with dramatic accessories added depth to the looks, making them suitable for both the red carpet and everyday wear.

“Adith’s work is a breath of fresh air,” Dina Barber shared. “He understands how to respect tradition while pushing boundaries, and that’s what makes him such a promising talent.”

Sroja and Fimela: A Sophisticated Collaboration

Sroja has been a rising star in Indonesia’s fashion scene for some time, but at NYFW, the brand truly came into its own. Known for its high-quality scarves, Sroja expanded into ready-to-wear fashion with a collection that was nothing short of show-stopping. The designs were sophisticated yet effortless, offering a blend of casual elegance that appealed to the fashion-forward audience.

The collaboration with Fimela,  a luxury handbag brand, added an extra layer of sophistication to the show. Fimela’s vibrant leather bags, crafted by some of Indonesia’s most skilled artisans, provided the perfect complement to Sroja’s understated, chic clothing. Together, the two brands created a series of looks that were both stylish and practical, proving that fashion can be functional without sacrificing glamour.

“Sroja’s collection showed us the versatility of Indonesian fashion,” Dina Barber noted. “It’s not just about couture; it’s about creating pieces that women can wear every day and still feel incredibly stylish.”

BT Trusmi and MOMEN: Celebrating Batik Heritage

BT Trusmi, a brand dedicated to preserving and modernizing Indonesia’s batik heritage, presented a striking collection that reimagined traditional patterns in a contemporary context. The blue and white hues of their “Mega Mendung” collection were both calming and bold, with wave-like patterns that captured the essence of Indonesian craftsmanship.

However, what truly made BT Trusmi’s show memorable was the debut of their new men’s collection, MOMEN. The line of tailored batik jackets for men, adorned with intricate batik motifs, brought a fresh and modern twist to traditional menswear. The collection was sleek, stylish, and undeniably masculine, offering men a way to incorporate Indonesia’s cultural heritage into their wardrobes.

“BT Trusmi continues to innovate while staying true to its roots,” said Dina Barber. “Their men’s collection, MOMEN, is the perfect example of how batik can be made relevant to modern fashion. It’s bold, but still respectful of tradition.”

ADEN: Redefining Modest Fashion

ADEN, Indonesia’s leading modest fashion brand, captivated the audience with its luxurious hijabs and couture designs that redefined what modest fashion can be. Known for its commitment to high-quality materials and exquisite detailing, ADEN presented a collection that was both elegant and glamorous, proving that modesty and fashion can go hand in hand.

Each piece in ADEN’s collection was crafted with precision, from the intricate embroidery to the flowing fabrics. The designs were a celebration of femininity and sophistication, offering women the chance to embrace both their style and their values. ADEN’s ability to elevate modest fashion to a couture level was widely praised by fashion critics, making it one of the standout brands of the evening.

“ADEN’s collection was breathtaking,” Dina Barber said. “They are showing the world that modest fashion can be just as high-end and glamorous as anything else on the runway.”

Indonesia’s Fashion Renaissance

The Indonesia Now showcase at NYFW SS 25 was a testament to the country’s growing influence in the global fashion industry. With a perfect blend of tradition, innovation, and artistry, the designers presented a vision of Indonesian fashion that was both culturally rich and modern. Under the expert direction of Dina Barber (Eski), the show not only highlighted the incredible talent of these designers but also demonstrated that Indonesia is ready to conquer the fashion world.

“This is just the beginning,” Dina Barber said with pride. “The world is finally seeing the talent and creativity that Indonesia has to offer, and I couldn’t be more excited for what’s to come.”

With its impressive showing at NYFW, Indonesia has firmly established itself as a fashion powerhouse, and the future looks brighter than ever for its talented designers.
